Subject: Support for Hualalai Court Workforce Housing Project
Aloha Councilmember Kagiwada,
I am writing in support of the Hualalai Court Affordable Workforce Housing application to
build 104 affordable apartments in your district.
Hawaii Community Lending is a nonprofit US Treasury certified community development
financial institution that increases access to credit and capital for Native Hawaiians and
other underserved populations in Hawaii. organization funds the affordable housing
ecosystem from the home builder to the homebuyer to the homeowner.
In our 22-year history of serving Hawaii Island, we have seen the critical role affordable
housing has in the economic well-being and overall health of our ALICE (asset limited,
income constrained, employed) residents. The Hualalai Court Affordable Workforce
Housing project will establish a foundation for 104 of our families, giving them an
opportunity to live, work, and stay in our community. At the same time, it promises to
provide affordable rents that will position our families not just to be renters, but to pursue
a path to affordable homeownership.
Please help create housing opportunities for 104 of our families by approving the Hualalai
Court Affordable Workforce Housing project.
