Subject: Support for Hualalai Court Workforce Housing Project
Aloha Council. Member Kagiwada,
I am writing in support of the Hualalai Court Affordable Workforce Housing application to build
104 affordable apartments in your district.
My name is Laynee Vidinha, and I am currently a high school student on the island of
Kaua'i. While I la1ow that I am still young and may not need to focus on purchasing a home just
yet, the increasing cost of living in. Hawai'i makes it a reality I must consider much earlier than
expected.
As someone who currently lives in a family home, I aspire to one day own a house of my
own. While living with my family is comfortable, I want to be independent and provide a home
for myself and my future family without relying on my grandparents. However, with the rising
cost of living, the fear of being priced out of paradise looms over my future.
The "Housing Hawai'i Future" initiative is essential in providing people with the
opportunity to afford housing that aligns with their income. It would allow those who may
otherwise struggle to meet the high cost of rent to live comfortably in a home that fits within
their means.

I sincerely hope that this movement extends to the neighboring islands, not just the Big
Island, as I believe it will greatly benefit many local families across Hawai'i.
Sincerely,
Laynee Vidinha
