I support Resotution 61, Number 25 in order to urge the State of Hawaii to consult with local poultry
farmers to devetop a ptan of effective avian fLu response by considering atternatives to current methods
of "controtting" avian flu which are ineffective, flawed and cruet. Current techniques include death by
overheating and smothering through iOh8k3donofC[)2. Poultry suffers with these techniques Of
depopulation just as surety as we of the human species woul.d.
Afternative responses in controlling bird flu would more kindLy and appropriately include quarantine,
vaccination and breeding disease resistant poultry. Anyone owning pouLtry should have the right to
choose effective solutions iOresponding and oontrnKingbird fiu.
Governmentat entities shouLd not have the right to kiL[ pouLtry with cruet and ineffective methods
white pouLtry owners heLplessty stand by.
