SUBJECT: QUARTERLY REPORT ON 201H APPLICATIONS PER RESOLUTION 431-20
DIRECTING HA WAFI CO UNTY TO STRATEGICALL YADDRESS ITS
ESCALATING HOUSING CRISIS WITH URGENCY, DATED JANUARY 22, 2020.
The Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) submits the quarterly report as requested
by Resolution 431-20 Directing Hawaii County to Strategically Address its Escalating Housing Crisis
with Urgency, dated 1/22/20.
The following provides an overview of all pending HRS §201H applications as of January 17, 2025:
I. ACTIVE HRS 4201H APPLICATION
1. Hualalai County (TMK: (3) 2-4-028:009)
The project proposes to develop a 104-unit affordable housing project located in Hilo,
Hawaii on a 3.29-acre parcel. The project plans to build and rent 104 units to households
between 80-100% AMI.
On October 7, 2024, the OHCD accepted a revised 201H application from Hualalai Court,
LLC requesting approval for certain exemptions. OHCD distributed the application to State
and County agencies for their review and comments on October 21, 2024. The responding
Departments feedback has been prepared for Council Review.
The draft Resolution has been forwarded to the County Clerk's office. The Applicant is
anticipated to provide an update before the Council Committee on January 21, 2025.
