J+�Y os M�!Y <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO `AHA PUNANA LEO, <br />INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 22nd ANNUAL PULAMA <br />MAULI OLA. <br />WHEREAS, `Aha Punana Leo, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) Native Hawaiian nonprofit <br />organization whose mission is the revitalization, growth, usage, and spread of the `olelo Hawaii <br />(the Hawaiian language) as one of the two official languages of Hawaii; and <br />WHEREAS, `Aha Punana Leo, Inc., is partnering with Ke Kula `o Ndwahiokalani`opu`u <br />(Ndwahi) for its Pulama Mauli Ola event held on February 15, 2025, at Hilo; and <br />WHEREAS, Pulama Mauli Ola is a unified Hawaiian language and culture event for the <br />community to witness and be immersed in the life of Hawaiian language and value the history <br />through cultural activities, performances, enrichment, and demonstrations; and <br />WHEREAS, the 22nd Annual Pulama Mauli Ola is a drug -free, alcohol -free, family - <br />friendly event has grown over the past years and will be relocated from its original location in <br />Kea`au to the Edith Kanaka`ole Multi -Purpose Stadium; and <br />WHEREAS, `Aha Punana Leo, Inc., is requesting funds for the costs for the facility <br />rental, rental of sound equipment, marketing, banners, posters, radio advertisements, and security <br />services; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that comply with <br />liquor laws at drug -free and alcohol -free community events; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to `Aha Punana Leo, Inc., to assist with expenses for the 22nd <br />Annual Pulama Mauli Ola. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
