Subject: Testimony Mr.Segawa nomination
Aloha all Hawaii county council members
My name is Rosalie Lenta
1 am a born and raised Hawaii Resident of south kona.
1 would like to urge the county council to VOTE NO on the nomination of Mr. Wesley Segawa for the
position of the Director of the Department of Environmental Management.
I am opposed to Mr. Segawa's nomination for this role for many concerning reasons such as his lack of
preparedness for this position, and track record of questionable integrity and ethics when it comes to
being in a position of public trust.
There is also a clear conflict of interest as Mr.Segawa's business holds a multi million dollar contract
with the county.
It is not fitting or fair to the residents of Hawaii county for Mr. Segawa to be nominated for this position
while he has been previously convicted of felony money laundering as well as violations of campaign
finance laws. His engineering firm has been fined for illegal donations to multiple politicians.
These actions and his record raise serious concerns about his integrity, judgement and capability to
lead.
The decision of the council to vote yes or no on this nomination is critical as it wilt have serious
consequences for Hawaii County's environmental future and therefore all who residents of Hawaii
county as welt.
I am urging all council members to vote NO on this nomination and instead ensure this nomination for
the position of the Director of the Department of Environmental Management goes to an individual who's
record shows integrity and honesty. The nomination must got to someone with the ability to make sound
decisions in leadership for the environmental future of this county and all within the community.
Mahato nui,
