Subject: Opposition to the nomination of Wesley Segway
Aloha Chair, Vice Chair, and Members of the County Council,
I strongly oppose the nomination of Wesley Segway as Director of the Department of Environmental Management
(DEM). It is troubling that Mr. Segawa has no qualifications for this position and has even stated himself that he has no
vision for addressing the County's critical environmental challenges, especially waste diversion, wastewater management
and recycling. This position warrants an individual who has expertise on the subject of waste and environmental
management.
Also concerning are potential conflicts of interest, as he did not disclose his company has a $4.4 million contract with the
county.
Please do not confirm the appointment of Wesley Segawa.
