Subject: Support Resolution 46-25 - Homelessness & Housing Fund Testimony
Aloha,
I strongly support Resolution 46-25 to approve funds for nonprofits addressing
homelessness on Hawaii Island. Organizations like Neighborhood Place of Puna play a
vital role in providing emergency shelter, rental assistance, and housing support, but
delays in funding threaten their ability to continue this critical work, putting our most
vulnerable community members at further risk. Without immediate action, programs that
provide emergency shelter, rental assistance, and housing support could be forced to
scale back or even shut down.
With federal funding uncertain, our local organizations must have reliable resources.
Every day of delay means more families in cars or on the street, more kupuna without
shelter, and more keiki facing instability.
Please pass Resolution 46-25 without delay to support those working tirelessly to combat
homelessness.
