Having a home is a basic human RIGHT! Homelessness is not an issue for non -profits to manage alone; it is a community issue that needs to be addressed by the entire community. The Hawaii County Homeless and Housing fund is crucial to reducing the number of Hawaii Island residents that are experiencing homelessness. This funding has helped to reduce the number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness on Hawaii Island by 28%. With President's Trump's executive order freezing federal grants, the HHF fund is needed even more than it was before this order. Please look inside yourselves and imagine a Hawaii without homelessness. Historically Hawaii did not have a homeless population. We can achieve this again by providing funding and legislation that eliminates homelessness.
