RESOLUTION NO. 80 5
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI`I TO
ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2025 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION
EVENT IN WEST HAWAI`I.
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches our
youth to make safe and responsible decisions, to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and violence, to
avoid risky situations, and to lead a safe and healthy life; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is conducting a West Hawaii D.A.R.E. Day to celebrate
the graduation of West Hawaii students who complete the 10-week Drug Abuse Resistance
Educational (D.A.R.E.) curriculum, scheduled for April 25, 2025 at the Kona Aquatic Center;
and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds for expenses of one slide and rock
climbing rental fee, food & shave ice supplies for the students and their families in attendance;
and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth
programs that promote public safety, education, and responsible lifestyle choices in alcohol- and
drug -free environments; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for the aforementioned expenses relating
to its 2025 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration event in West Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
