A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PROJECT VISION HAWAI‘I
FOR ITS HEALTHCARE OUTREACH PROJECT IN HAWAIʻI COUNTY.
WHEREAS, Project Vision Hawai‘i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life throughout the State of Hawaiʻi by improving vision, preventing
blindness, and advancing medical knowledge through community-based research; and
WHEREAS, Project Vision Hawai‘i will provide street-level, outreach community events throughout Hawaiʻi County to increase access to a variety of healthcare services such as benefit
navigation, prescription assistance, and vision and hearing services for low-income and underserved residents; and
WHEREAS, Project Vision Hawai‘i is requesting funds to purchase outreach supplies, medical screening supplies, and reading glasses, as well as personnel costs for administration, outreach,
and medical staff members to conduct its Healthcare Outreach project in Hawaiʻi County during this fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports projects that help to improve the social well-being and quality of life for Hawaiʻi Island residents; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to Project Vision Hawaiʻi for its Healthcare Outreach project in Hawaiʻi County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
