A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HĀMĀKUA HEALTH CENTER,
INC., FOR THE ʻA‘OLE VAPE TEEN DANCE IN HONOKA‘A.
WHEREAS, Hāmākua Health Center, Inc. (HHC), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves Hawai‘i Island by providing accessible, affordable, quality health care and educational
services with an emphasis on individual and community wellness; and
WHEREAS, HHC is partnering with the Honoka‘a community to organize the ʻA‘ole Vape Teen Dance, which is an annual event to bring teens together in a safe and positive space, while reinforcing
the values of community among the young generation; and
WHEREAS, this free event will be held on March 14, 2025, at the Honoka‘a Sports Complex and will include music, refreshments, fun activities, and school and sports supplies for all participants;
and
WHEREAS, HHC is requesting funds to help with disc jockey fees, snacks, juice, water, reusable water bottles, and miscellaneous school and sports supplies for the ʻA‘ole Vape Teen Dance;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this outreach event as it provides diversified programs to address the needs and interests of the communities in a safe environment;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to Hāmākua Health Center, Inc., to help with expenses for the ʻA‘ole Vape Teen Dance in Honoka‘a.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
