Thank you for your approval to move Resolution 51-25 for Hualalai Court Affordable Workforce
Housing through committee. We appreciate your commitment to finding affordable housing
solutions within our community.
I am writing in support of Res. 51-25 to build 104 affordable apartments in Hilo.
We were recently in a family dispute that removed us from our home. Disagreements and
unfortunate things happen, but being made to live in unacceptable conditions shouldn't be
tolerated. Currently,we are waiting for an available apartment that has taken more than two
months. Our issue is that many of them are incredibly overpriced or are being renovated. If
there are affordable housing units in Hilo, I'm sure that a family of 5 with a single-family income
such as mine would have an easier time finding a place to live.Affordable housing should not
just be available for local families but also attainable. Mahalo nui for your time and
