Aloha Council Members,
Thank you for your approval to move Resolution 51-25 for Hualalai Court Affordable
Workforce Housing through committee. Thank you for your commitment to finding
affordable housing solutions within our community.
I am writing in continued support of Res. 51-25 to build 104 affordable apartments in
Hilo.

Subject: Support for Hualalai Court Workforce Housing Project
Aloha Council Member Kagiwada,
I am writing in support of the Hualalai Court Affordable Workforce Housing application to build
104 affordable apartments in your district.
My name is Elijah Vidinha, and I am writing in support of the "Housing Hawai'i Future"
initiative. I am 20 years old and from the island of Kaua'i. While I am not from the Big Island,
where this movement is currently being focused, I fully support its goals and hope to see it
expanded to neighboring islands.
Having lived with my grandparents in our family home for my entire life, one of my
aspirations is to own,a home where I can raise my future family. Unfortunately, achieving this
goal is becoming increasingly difficult. Despite working long hours and saving diligently, the
cost of living in Hawai'i continues to rise. This initiative would make it possible for me to
purchase a home that aligns with my income, allowing me to raise my children in the cultural
environment I grew up in, surrounded by family.
Without this support, I may be priced out of the place I call home and forced to relocate
to the mainland, where I have no family ties. This movement is vital in ensuring that future
generations can continue to live and thrive in Hawai'i without being driven away by the
escalating cost of housing.
