Aloha Council Members,
Thank you for your approval to move Resolution 51-25 for Hualalai Court Affordable
Workforce Housing through committee. Thank you for your commitment to finding
affordable housing solutions within our community.
I am writing in continued support of Res. 51-25 to build 104 affordable apartments in
Hilo.

Subject: Support for Hualalai Court Workforce Housing Project
Aloha Council Member Kagiwada,
I am writing in support of the Hualalai Court Affordable Workforce Housing application to build
104 affordable apartments in your district.
Aloha, my name is Ku'ulei Vidinha, and I have lived in Kekaha, on the island of Kaua'i,
for many years. I am writing in strong support of the "Housing Hawai'i Future" movement
currently taking place on the Big Island. Although I am not a resident of the Big Island, I fully
support this initiative and hope to see it implemented on the neighboring islands as well.
Having grown up in Hawai'i, I have witnessed firsthand the dramatic rise in the cost of
living over the years. As housing prices continue to soar, I am increasingly concerned for future
generations, including my grandchildren. How will they ever afford to purchase a home? Even
modest, one-bedroom fixer-uppers are now priced at a minimum of$1 million on our island.
This movement is crucial to ensuring that the next generation will still have the opportunity to
live in the communities they grew up in.
I have a deep love for my home island, and I want my great-grandchildren and future
generations to have the chance to experience and develop their own love for this special place.
The "Housing Hawai'i Future" initiative is essential in preserving that possibility for them.
