RE: Comm. 97: Strong Support of Laura Acasio for Administrator of OSCER
Aloha Chair Inaba, Vice Chair Onishi, and the members of the Hawaii County Council:
I strongly support Laura Acasio to be the new Hawaii County Office of Sustainability, Climate,
Equity, and Resilience (OSCER) administrator. This office is responsible for coordinating and
managing policies and programs that address sustainability, mitigate greenhouse gas emissions,
and adapt to the impacts of climate change, along with other natural and human -caused hazards.
Laura's diverse background uniquely qualifies her to lead OSCER. She is a former State Senator,
educator, mother, birth worker, and community advocate with over 20 years of experience. Her
educational expertise spans environmental science, technology, Hawaiian studies, horticulture,
and civics.
I have witnessed Laura in action, and she consistently brings forth thoughtful ideas that benefit
the community. She possesses the energy, passion, and drive necessary for this crucial role.
I humbly ask that you vote in favor of Laura Acasio for administrator of OSCER.
