RE: MOHOULI STREET EXTENSION
The Big Island Business Council supports the construction of the Mohouli Street Extension as
presently planned. There must be consistency in our planning process and the community has
already agreed upon this configuration as part of the Hawaii County General Plan. We are not
aware of any testimony in the General Plan review process, curcently underway, which
suggests that this route is not one wanted by the community.
The Big Island Business Council encourages and promotes good government in order to
provide for the growth and welfare of the business community of the Big Island. This includes
owners, operators and employees and their families of each business. Avenues of
communication, programs of research, education and information and finding solutions to
issues facing the community are important to us.
We hope you will take into consideration the plight of the working person, who can afford to
live in East Hawaii and/or lives there by choice and finds meaningful employment in West
Hawaii. The Mohouli Extension, as planned, will allow for several efficient, SAFE, convenient
routes for this worker. We encourage you to continue to promote a stable and healthy
economy with this long-term Federal, State and county project.
