RESOLUTION NO. ' 89 25
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF
KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE
39TH ANNUAL HAWAI`I KUPUNA HULA FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc., (LCKCFI) is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service
projects and activities that meet the needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, is
coordinating with LCKCFI to host the 39th Annual Hawaii Kupuna Hula Festival that honors
and perpetuates the art of hula through our treasured kupuna; and
WHEREAS, hundreds of hula dancers will be participating in the 39th Annual Hawaii
Kupuna Hula Festival, which will be held September 10-11, 2025, at the Outrigger Kona Resort
and Spa; and
WHEREAS, LCKCFI is requesting funds to pay for a videographer and a sound system
in this fiscal year to secure these services for the 39th Annual Hawaii Kupuna Hula Festival,
which takes place in the following fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc.,
to assist with expenses for the 39th Annual Hawaii Kupuna Hula Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
