N,1 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />,TEOF•HF•� <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />MEW <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI`I TO <br />ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2025 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION <br />EVENT IN WEST HAWAI`I. <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) <br />nonprofit organization established, in part, to support law enforcement officers and educators <br />with materials and incentives for conducting classes that teach safe and responsible decision - <br />making aimed at resisting alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and other risky substances to elementary <br />through middle school students; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is assisting the Hawaii Police Department with <br />conducting a D.A.R.E. Day celebration event on April 25, 2025, in West Hawaii to recognize <br />students who complete a ten -week educational program that includes problem solving scenarios <br />and interactive lessons; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds to assist with expenses for game <br />activity materials and supplies during its celebration event, which has an anticipated attendance <br />of approximately seven hundred students; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals for the Department of Liquor Control is to support public <br />and youth programs, whether through education, enforcement, or activities, which promote <br />compliance to liquor laws and responsible drinking; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for the aforementioned expenses relating <br />to its 2025 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration event in West Hawaii. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth herewith: <br />
