No. 75-25 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />Hilo, Hawaii <br />TIME: 1:02 p.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Resolution No. <br />75-25, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 75-25, transmitted by Director of Finance Diane Nakagawa, via Communication No. <br />126, dated January 30, 2025, authorizes the Director of Finance to negotiate a lease of real property, <br />situated at Waiakea, South Hilo, County and State of Hawaii, identified as Tax Map Keys <br />(3) 2-4-057:029 and (3) 2-4-057:031, to the Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial, Inc. <br />This resolution allows the Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial, Inc., to continue to lease the parcels to <br />construct and develop a veterans center and veterans housing. <br />Bob Williams and Joe Kamelamela, representatives of Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial, Inc., and <br />the Department of Finance Property Manager Hamana Ventura were present in Chambers. <br />Mr. Ventura provided that he was in support of the lease for the next phase of the project and asked for <br />the Committee Members' consideration. <br />Committee Members Kdneali`i-Kleinfelder and Heather Kimball extended their appreciation to Mr. <br />Williams and Mr. Kamelamela in bringing the project to fruition, with the new housing units being <br />fully occupied.
