AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6, ARTICLE 2, SECTION
6-12, OF THE HAWAI'l COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION, AS
AMENDED), RELATING TO PROHIBITED HIGHWAYS FOR
COMMERICAL BICYCLE TOURS.
Transmitted herewith is the recommendation received from Department of Public Works
Director Hugh Ono, regarding Bill No. 28.

Dear Council Member Kimball:

DPW believes this road in Mauka Honokaa is not suitable for bike tour activities,
considering both highway geometric perspective and its overall suitability for such use.
Additionally, residents share this viewpoint, further reinforcing concerns about the road's
suitability for bike tours.
Therefore, we strongly believe that this road should not be included in the allowable "bike
tour" route.
