COUNTY OF HAWAVI +(� =t STATE OF HAWAVI +Po'� N� MO �••��\ ,TF•OF •NF'� RESOLUTION NO. 9-9 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PACIFIC TSUNAMI MUSEUM FOR SALARIES, TRAINING, AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION. WHEREAS, the Pacific Tsunami Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide education and awareness to ensure that no one ever again dies in Hawaii due to a tsunami; and WHEREAS, the Pacific Tsunami Museum's unique work in the community is critical to providing tsunami awareness, protecting the stories of survivors, and honoring those we lost to prior tsunamis; and WHEREAS, the Pacific Tsunami Museum has recently lost some of its long-term donor support due to their passing and is facing a series of extensive and necessary renovations; and WHEREAS, the Pacific Tsunami Museum is seeking additional funding support to help bridge a temporary gap in their operational budget for salaries, field training for docents and volunteers, and community education while they work to obtain alternative, long-term funding; and WHEREAS, the Pacific Tsunami Museum is requesting funds to support the salaries of three staff positions until April, as well as funds for a van rental for field training at various tsunami sites and to create a recording/videography of co-founder Dr. Walter Dudley sharing his knowledge of each museum exhibit to educate the community on our history and tsunami safety awareness; and WHEREAS, this project falls within the Department of Research and Development's mission to support community programs that balance economic, social, and community priorities in Hawaii County; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Pacific Tsunami Museum for salaries, training, and community education. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $5,000 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC—Contingency Relief $5,000 CREDITED TO: 010.161.5163.20 Dept. of Research and Development $5,000 Business Development R&D 115 Misc. Contract Services (Pacific Tsunami Museum—Salaries, Training, and Community Education) BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
