AWARD LUNCHEON ON MAY 9, 2025.
WHEREAS, in 1963, the month of May was designated as Senior Citizens Month by President John F. Kennedy and was later renamed to Older Americans Month in 1980 by President Jimmy Carter;
and
WHEREAS, Older Americans Month continues to be celebrated locally and across the country through ceremonies, events, and fairs; and
WHEREAS, in honor of Older Americans Month, the Hawai‘i County Office of Aging will be holding its annual Outstanding Older Americans Award Luncheon to celebrate and acknowledge the
remarkable contributions and efforts of our kūpuna in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Aging has requested funds to assist with expenses associated with hosting this year’s award luncheon on May 9, 2025, which includes kūpuna lunches and awards;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to assist with expenses associated
with its annual Outstanding Older Americans Award Luncheon on May 9, 2025.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
