Coordinator Hoard of Directors, CCFNS All Neighborhood Watch Members Residents of PPMVM RE: Marijuana Eradication Resolution No. 246.00 We support the above resolution for the following reasons: FEDERAL MONEY from this grant has in the past been used not. only for eradication efforts, but for drug awareness programs in schools, for youth groups and to other community groups. SAFETY for residents, tourists, hikers and others wishing to use our forests and parks. We do not want to go back to the mid-70's and 80's when marijuana growers considered these places to be "their" areas to use as they please, and threatening anyone intruding on "their" land, sometimes resulting in injuries and deaths. TOURISTS AND RETIREES are an important focus for increased income into our economy. Vacation spots around the world must be able to assure some measure of safety for visitors. If they lack this, word of mouth through travel agents and clients, hotel owners and competitors quickly gets around. The island of Hawaii is ideal for retirees, with its reasonable land prices. They take little from the economy, while contributing much in money, volunteerism and cultural aspects. All of these positive aspects will thrive in an atmosphere where marijuana growing, with all its negative impact, is not allowed to exist. YOUNG PEOPLE will receive the wrong message now that certain medical uses of marijuana are legal, if local government turns down federal financial assistant grants. It will appear that the illegal cultivation of marijuana is no longer taken seriously. Please keep the Marijuana Eradication Program going! Comm. Na. 7 } 9 d T Thank yo~ Mle No. P-01, Ref.
