STATE OF HAWAII <br />+r ..tt • <br />4TE•OF•MF' <br />RESOLUTION NO. 107 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAMAKUA <br />HARVEST, INC. TO CONDUCT EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS REGARDING <br />AGRICULTURAL TAX CLASSIFICATIONS AND RELATED REAL PROPERTY TAX <br />PROGRAMS. <br />WHEREAS, Hdmdkua Harvest, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to <br />assisting farmers, landowners, and the broader community in navigating new and existing <br />agricultural policies, developing sustainable farm plans, and promoting responsible land <br />stewardship; and <br />WHEREAS, Hdmdkua Harvest, Inc. wishes to improve community understanding on <br />agricultural tax classifications and related real property tax programs to ensure that farmers, <br />ranchers, and agricultural landowners fully comprehend and can access these opportunities; and <br />WHEREAS, Hdmdkua Harvest, Inc. will be hosting the educational sessions from March <br />through June, 2025; and <br />WHEREAS, Hdmdkua Harvest, Inc. is requesting funds for its educational and <br />informational sessions to include educator fees, community outreach to increase attendance and <br />participation, workshop supplies, including white boards, markers, easels, chairs, and printing of <br />brochures, lessons, surveys, and signage; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports this program, <br />which falls within its Agriculture initiative to collaborate with community -based organizations to <br />balance economic, social, health, and environmental priorities; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Research and Development to provide a grant to Hdmdkua Harvest, Inc. to engage with the <br />community regarding agricultural tax classifications and related programs. <br />
