HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 109 Draft 01 2024-2026RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE ANNUAL OUTSTANDING OLDER AMERICANS
AWARD LUNCHEON.
WHEREAS, in 1963, the month of May was designated as Senior Citizens Month by President John F. Kennedy and was later renamed to Older Americans Month in 1980 by President Jimmy Carter;
and
WHEREAS, Older Americans Month continues to be celebrated locally and across the country through ceremonies, events, and fairs; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of Older Americans Month, the Hawai‘i County Office of Aging will be hosting the annual Outstanding Older Americans Award Luncheon, which recognizes our kūpuna
for their extraordinary efforts and contributions to our community; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Aging is requesting funds to assist with expenses associated with hosting this year’s award luncheon on May 9, 2025, which includes venue rental fees and meals
for the kūpuna; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to assist with expenses associated
with the annual Outstanding Older Americans Award Luncheon on May 9, 2025.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
