HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 117 Draft 01 2024-2026A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ‘O KA‘Ū KĀKOU FOR
ITS 2025 SUMMER FUN FEST AND INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, ‘O Ka‘ū Kākou (OKK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that sponsors and supports community activities in the district of Ka‘ū that enhance the quality of life for keiki,
kūpuna, and businesses; and
WHEREAS, to celebrate the Independence Day of our Nation, OKK is coordinating a parade in Nā‘ālehu set forth on June 28, 2025, followed by its 2025 Summer Fun Fest that will feature
inflatable water slides and bouncy castles for the keiki and bingo games for all to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, OKK will be providing lunches, drinks, and refreshments for all event attendees as well as prizes for the bingo games; and
WHEREAS, OKK is requesting funds to assist with the cost of equipment rentals, the purchase of food, drinks, ice, and supplies such as paper goods, arts and craft supplies, and shave
ice supplies for this free community event; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this event as it is in alignment with the goals of the department to promote safe and healthy community activities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to ‘O Ka‘ū Kākou for its 2025 Summer Fun Fest and Independence Day Celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
