Re: Nomination of Josephine "Jojo" Tanimoto of Council District 9 to the South Kohala
Community Development Plan Action Committee
Aloha Council Chair Inaba and Council Members,
I am pleased to nominate Josephine "Jojo" Tanimoto of Council District 9 to the South Kohala
Community Development Plan Action Committee.
Ms. Tanimoto was born on Oahu in 1950 and relocated to Hawaii Island in 1974. Ms. Tanimoto
has recently retired from the hospitality industry and has work experience in government, non-
profit, and private sectors.
Active in our North Hawaii communities, Ms. Tanimoto is a former president and member of the
Kailapa Community Association in Kawaihae, the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs, and a
former South Kohala Community Development Plan Action Committee member.
If confirmed, Ms. Tanimoto will fill a vacant seat and serve a four-year term ending on January
