Please vote to oppose putting federal immigration agents into our police department here in the county of
Hawaii. This goes against everything that Hawaii stands for and will erode community trust in our police and
exacerbate the fear that already exists. My friend is a school teacher, and he reports that children are missing
school because their parents are terrified of losing them. Hawaii County police are not trained in immigration
law and should not be involved in immigration whatsoever. We need constitutional protections for all residents,
including those who are undocumented or in the process of becoming documented across the island.
