I have lived in Hawaii for almost 10 years. I moved here from South Texas where I was fortunate to know and work with many people from Latin America. I practiced Family Medicine as a Nurse Practitioner for 27 years. Maybe some of my patients and co-workers were undocumented, but that was of no interest to me as a health care provider. Regarding HB 74-25, 1 do not believe that asking a police officer to comply with a federal mandate regarding possible illegal status of an individual should be part of their duties. We want our police officers to keep our towns and cities safe. These immigrants are not criminals. Our immigration system does need to be reviewed and improved. That will take time. Please defer this bill and let our police continue to keep us safe. Comm. -* . I q Ref.
