WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract,
lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a
later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to enter into a multi -year
agreement for three (3) years, with the option of two (2) years renewal to manage
and operate the fixed route transit system for the Mass Transit Agency; and
WHEREAS, the selected contractor will provide drivers to operate County -
owned buses for specified routes and provide their own buses and drivers to
service the balance of the routes; and
WHEREAS, the selected contractor will also provide management,
personnel, dispatching, maintenance, and other services to ensure transportation
services are carried out; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a three (3) year
agreement with two (2) option years for the services as indicated
above, for the Mass Transit Agency.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the
anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the
agreement.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of
Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of Management,
the Finance Department, and the Mass Transit Agency.
