A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH EXPENSES
RELATING TO ITS HI-PAL PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, HI-PAL (Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League) is a community youth program under the Police Department that provides youth with recreational activities in a safe place and
promotes sportsmanship, benevolence, friendship, common interests, sociability, goodwill, and tolerance; and
WHEREAS, the HI-PAL program provides social and athletic activities for Hawaiʻi Island youth between the ages of 5 and 17, which include school dances, canoe regattas, BMX bike rallies,
rodeo events, and boxing, fencing, basketball, and fishing tournaments; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting funds to assist with purchasing medals and items of achievement in this fiscal year to recognize youth that participate in sports activities
under its HI-PAL program; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Police Department to assist with expenses relating
to its HI-PAL program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
