Re: Nomination of Darde M. Gamayo of Council District 1 to the Cultural Resources
Commission.
Aloha Council Chair Inaba and Council Members,
I am pleased to nominate Darde M. Gamayo from Council District 1 to serve on the Cultural
Resources Commission.
Ms. Gamayo has been a lifelong resident of Hawaii Island for fifty-seven years. She proudly
raises her family in Honoka'a and Waipi'o Valley, where she and her husband own property and
farm in one of the most culturally and historically significant areas on earth.
Ms. Gamayo is a well-known radio personality with Pacific Media Group, where she utilizes her
talents to share island culture, historical facts, and local values. She has a unique ability to
connect with our community through the KAPA airwaves.
If confirmed, Ms. Gamayo will replace Ms. Natalie Kurashima and will serve a term that ends on
