A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI‘I
FOR THE 2025 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION IN EAST HAWAI‘I.
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established 37 years ago to help youth make safe and responsible decisions to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and violence,
and to avoid risky situations that could impact their health and safety; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i is conducting a D.A.R.E. Day Celebration to commemorate the graduation of students from various schools in East Hawai‘i who have completed the D.A.R.E. 10-week
Drug Abuse Resistance Education curriculum; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i has requested funds for food and refreshments, items for activities, games and contests, and inflatable waterslides to celebrate and recognize their achievement;
and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth programs, such as D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i, that promote alcohol-free and drug-free events that teach youth
to make safe and responsible choices; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i for the 2025 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration in East Hawai‘i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
