Subject:Support for Regulating Small Cells in Bill 24
Aloha,
l am writing to express my support for the amendment to include small cells in Bill 24. It appears there
was an error in the Director's statement regarding the inability to regulate small cells within this
framework. As wireless technology continues to evolve, it is imperative that local ordinances adapt
accordingly.
Several years ago,the County adopted a resolution to halt the deployment of 5G small cells,
acknowledging the novel and untested nature of this technology. Its rapid development has raised
concerns globally, prompting numerous local jurisdictions across the country to implement regulatory
measures. The Big Island urgently needs an ordinance that effectively addresses the integration of small
cells to ensure responsible deployment and safeguard community interests.
I respectfully urge you to support this critical amendment.
Thank you, Comm. N . lo.
