RE: Testimony in Support of Communication No. 200;
Nomination of Kawehi Inaba to the Leeward Planning Commission
Honorable Chair Kagiwada:
It is with great pleasure that I submit my support of the nomination, and
subsequent confirmation, of Ms. Kawehi Inaba to the County of Hawai'i's
Leeward Planning Commission.
Ms. Inaba's grass roots and historical knowledge of West Hawai'i, her dedication
to community and diverse perspectives in achieving balance between responsible
growth and,cultural sustainability, is critical to the identity of West Hawai'i. Ms.
Inaba is mindful and understands that leadership is not solely to make decisions,
but more importantly, it's about listening and learning to ensure that voice of the
people and the respect of, and responsibility to the land, are honored.
These unique attributes make Ms. Inaba a strong and qualified candidate to serve
on the Leeward Planning Commission. I humbly support her nomination and
