Aloha Hawai'i County Council Members,
My name is Jacqui Hoover, and I have the privilege of serving as President and Chief Operating
Officer of the Hawaii Leeward Planning Conference (HLPC) and concurrently as Executive
Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Hawaii Island Economic Development Board(HIEDB).
On behalf of HLPC and HIEDB, I am pleased to offer my strong support for the nomination
of Kawehi Inaba to serve on the County of Hawai'i's Leeward Planning Commission.
In my work at the intersection of economic development and thoughtful community planning, I
have had the opportunity to collaborate with Kawehi on multiple initiatives that impact both place
and people. Her approach to leadership is rooted in balance and objectivity, demonstrating her
understanding of the importance of supporting economic vitality while protecting the cultural and
environmental integrity that makes Hawaii Island so unique.
Kawehi's ability to engage with .stakeholders across public, private, and nonprofit sectors
showcases her professionalism,humility,and a deep understanding of our local landscape. These
qualities along with her experience in nonprofit leadership,business development,and community
advocacy makes her a uniquely qualified candidate who will bring a thoughtful, inclusive and
culturally grounded perspective to this important role to which Kawehi will bring a thoughtful,
inclusive, and culturally grounded perspective.
