I am writing in support of Kawehi Inaba's nomination to the Leeward Planning Commission. Kawehi and I first met over 12 years ago as participants in the Ulumau Leadership Series, and I've been fortunate to witness her contributions and deep commitment to Hawaii Island ever since. I appreciate Kawehi's steady and values-based leadership across many spheres— business, nonprofit, civic, and cultural, and her thoughtful engagement, deep respect for kupuna, and a clear vision for Hawai'i Island's future that balances growth with stewardship. Kawehi has the ability to work across sectors, build trust, and elevate the voices of those often left out of decision-making processes. Whether through her leadership at La`i`opua 2020 or her years of public service, she consistently shows up with integrity and aloha. She understands that land use decisions aren't just technical—they're personal, generational, and require thoughtful navigation through both policy and people. Kawehi's presence on the Leeward Planning Commission will be a tremendous asset to the community, and I fully support her nomination. Mahalo for your consideration. Sincerely, /41itimi GTE /V Rich Matsuda Comm. Ref. To: l 1 Ref. Dive . ER m j 2075_
