RE: Communication 200: Nomination of Rebecca "Kawehi" Inaba to the Leeward Planning
Commission ..
I am a long time resident of the leeward side of Hawaii Island and I'm proud to support Mayor
Alameda's nomination of Kawehi Inaba to the Leeward Planning Commission.
I've had the privilege of knowing Kawehi for many years and in many different roles. I worked closely
with Kawehi on various projects during her time as Director of the County Department of Research &
Development during Mayor Billy Kenoi's administration. She does good work.
As many of you know, she is a consistent and trusted contributor to our community with a deep
sense of kuleana to our community and especially to those special places we all love. This is key.
I've worked with a wide range of leaders—but few have the focus of intention and clarity that Kawehi
does. She doesn't just check boxes or go through the motions. She listens deeply, asks the right
questions, and brings people together around shared goals.
Her ability to bridge perspectives and maintain focus on long-term community well-being is exactly
the kind of leadership we need on Hawaii Island and on the Leeward Planning Commission.
I strongly support her nomination and I'd appreciate your kokua to confirm her nomination.
