Against Resolution 74-25
I am writing to express my disagreement with Memorandum of Understanding as it stands in Resolution
74-25. My understanding is that it talking of the police department facilitating immigration enforcement,
including housing ICE, HSI and others in local police facilities. This will undermine the trust between
immigrant communities and local law enforcement. It will result in distrust between our population, and
likely cause truancy in schools.
Despite the strong-arm techniques that the current federal administration is making, accepting this MOU
without changes is not to Hawaii's benefit. I'm requesting that our officials stand up to this bullying
approach.
