Testimony in OPPOSITION of Resolution 74 - 25: ICE MOU.
Hearing Date: April 2, 2025
Aloha Council Members and Mayor,
My name is Connie Simon, and I am writing in strong opposition to Resolution 74 - 25: ICE MOU
because it will negatively impact our Hawai'i community.
I am a teacher in a Hawaii public school. I need my students to respect and trust our police. I want them to
feel comfortable to call the police when they or their families need help
Using the police to assist ICE will erode that trust and my students will have no way of getting help
when they need it.
Hawaii Police Department to engage in immigration enforcement undermines public safety. This
resolution does not protect our community; instead, it fosters division and distrust. I strongly urge the
committee to oppose Resolution 74-25 and protect the integrity of our local law enforcement.
Mahalo for your time and consideration.
