REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: April 15, 2025 Re: Comm.No. 211/Bill No. 42 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:00 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo,Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 42,reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 42,transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication No. 211, dated <br /> March 28, 2025, amends Ordinance No. 24-32, as amended, the operating budget for the County of <br /> Hawai`i for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. <br /> This bill increases revenues in the Interest—Other Federal account($660,000); and appropriates the <br /> same to the Emergency Rent Assistance 2 COVID-19 account($600,000), Hawai`i Island <br /> Landlord/Tenant Mediation account($10,000), and 2021 Hawai`i Island Homeowner Assistance <br /> Program-Administration account($50,000). <br /> Office of Housing and Community Development Administrator Kehaulani Costa was present in <br /> Chambers. <br /> Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz asked if that the county has generated funds eligible for <br /> reinvestment into Housing programs due to the interest generated from federal COVID-19 funding. <br /> Ms. Costa confirmed. <br /> Committee Member Michelle Galimba asked if the Emergency Rental Assistance Program would be <br /> discontinued.
