WhiLe driving the Old Mamalahoa Highway regularly and doing the cLean up, I'm noticing the road needs

What is the scheduLe for the next paving of this road, from Highway 19 to Kahana Dr.?

Subject: More buses please
Aloha,
This is testimony for the County Council.
My name is Sam Baker. My wife is Rachel Baker.
Our family has lived on the island since 2008.
We have lived in Ahualoa since 2020. Before that we lived near Pa'auito.
We raised two daughters here. One,18, is living off -island. The other, 21, came back to live with us in
December.
The one living with us can't drive (she's working on getting a motorcycle license), and has a job in Waimea
that the bus schedule can't accommodate for her work hours, so she has to commute there with me,
which means I have to drive to Waimea twice daily, as her hours don't coincide with mine. She had a job
in Hilo when moving back here, but the bus schedule wouldn't support her work hours there, so she had
to drop that job.
1'd like to advocate for more County -run small buses running more frequently between Honoka'a and
Waimea, and other routes.
I and others in my family would take the bus more often it ran more frequently between Honokaa and
Waimea.
One suggestion I heard from a community leader is to leave the large bus schedule as is, but run smaller
business more frequently between those two towns, and perhaps other locations - maybe a daily small
bus from Honokaa to Waipi'o Valley lookout, once in the AM, once in the PM, for tourists and residents.
Thanks for listening.
