I am reaching out to you with the hope of getting your help in ensuring the funding of 2.5 million dollars for the inital engineering of a life saving 2nd road in Waikoloa Village. The 2021 fire evacuation was a huge mess. It took hours to get out of the Village and the panic was unbelievable. With the windy windy weather we have here, our Village could be devoured by fire in an instant. In 2008 a Plan from the county called us a "very high priority". Still, nothing has been done about this. Please give us some comfort in knowing you will help us survive a disaster in the future. Waikoloa Village is growing by leaps and bounds! The Long Range Plan (LRP) has under estimated the amount of traffic for Waikoloa. From what I understand, it did not account for the additional growth of the Village. Right now we have about 7500 people living here. With all the new developments happening, we are estimated to have 22000 residents!! The roads and the set-up of the Village can not handle this. This is a major public safety issue. I beg you to do what it takes to get a second road in Waikoloa Village.
