+1I1/pl <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I i= _• STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />4TE•Oi •NF'i+ <br />RESOLUTION NO. 150 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI`I ISLAND <br />ADULT CARE FOR ITS POSITIVE APPROACH TO CARE TRAINING PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Island Adult Care (HIAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />that has been providing services for kupuna, challenged adults, families, and caregivers since <br />1976; and <br />WHEREAS, the services that HIAC provides allows kupuna and challenged adults to <br />continue living at home rather than an institution by providing support to caregivers, including <br />innovative training opportunities such as the Positive Approach to Care, which is the country's <br />leading training method in dementia care; and <br />WHEREAS, HIAC fills a unique need in offering its Positive Approach to Care training <br />program for free to the community through a series of eight training sessions, which started in <br />October 2024 and now has three sessions remaining; and <br />WHEREAS, HIAC is requesting funding to assist with administrative costs for staff to <br />coordinate the remaining three sessions, printing additional training materials, and purchasing <br />refreshments for participants of its Positive Approach to Care training program; and <br />WHEREAS, HIAC has partnered with the Office of Aging in the past and upholds its <br />mission to optimize the health, safety, and independence of Hawai`i's older adults; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to <br />provide a grant to HIAC for its Positive Approach to Care training program. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
