�JMtV^Oi N,�yY1 <br />L •4 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />+fe•� N� MO�i•'\ <br />'1T cF"N►'� <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15" <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF HILO <br />FOR ITS 21ST ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE. <br />WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo (doing business as Hawaii Care Choices) is a 501(c)(3) <br />nonprofit organization that provides medical, social, and spiritual services for terminally ill <br />patients at their end of life, as well as providing support to their families and caregivers; and <br />WHEREAS, for the past 21 years, Hospice of Hilo has held its annual Celebration of <br />Life event to raise awareness and provide education regarding end -of -life choices, with this <br />year's event to be held on May 25, 2025, at Reeds Bay Beach Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the 21 st Annual Celebration of Life is an event to remember loved ones <br />who have passed — honoring the life they have lived and the lives they have touched, as well as <br />celebrating the diverse and rich cultural foundation of our island; and <br />WHEREAS, numerous patients and family members send in their decorated lanterns for <br />the lantern floating ceremony as they are not able to participate in person due to physical <br />limitations or conditions; and <br />WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is requesting funds to help defray the costs for program <br />printing, portable toilet and canopy rentals, and videography and media broadcasting to air the <br />event live for those who are unable to attend in person; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug -free and alcohol -free <br />events that enrich the lives of community members; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hospice of Hilo for its 21 st Annual Celebration of Life <br />event. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
