COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. 155 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI`I TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2025 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION EVENT IN EAST HAWAI`I. WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches our youth to make safe and responsible decisions, to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and violence, to avoid risky situations, and to lead a safe and healthy life; and WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is conducting an East Hawaii D.A.R.E. Day to celebrate the graduation of East Hawaii students who complete the 10-week Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) curriculum, scheduled for May 20, 2025, at the Charles "Sparky" Kawamoto Swim Stadium; and WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds to assist with expenses for food as well as materials and supplies for games and activities during its celebration event, which has an anticipated attendance of approximately 700 students; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth programs that promote public safety, education, and responsible lifestyle choices in alcohol- and drug -free environments; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for the aforementioned expenses relating to its 2025 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration event in East Hawaii. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai` i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
