F <br />cP' <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />7TF tli.N'yi <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14 6 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS <br />HAWAI`I, INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE WEST HAWAI`I <br />REGIONAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT. <br />WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawaii, Inc. (SOH), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization that is dedicated to providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in <br />a variety of olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them <br />opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in <br />a sharing of skills, friendship with family, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, SOH is requesting funds to assist with expenses for lunches for athletes, <br />coaches, and volunteers, refreshments, lei, rental of a sound system and generator, DJ services, <br />award ribbons, tents, and coolers, to provide a platform for athletes to showcase their abilities <br />together with coaches and volunteers from across the region, fostering a sense of community and <br />inclusion, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests <br />of needs of the poor, youth, the aged, and those with physical or emotional disabilities; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in <br />accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br />amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 are hereby transferred to the <br />Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to SOH for the expenses and purposes <br />identified in "Exhibit A," a (,opy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by <br />reference, in the following amount as set forth below: <br />FUND: ' General <br />AMOUNT OF <br />APPROPRIATION: $5,000 <br />OUT AND FROM <br />010.101.5101.91 Clerk -Council SVC — Contingency Relief $5,000 <br />CREDITED TO: <br />010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $5,000 <br />Public Programs <br />115 Misc.
