RESOLUTION NO. IG3 25
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI`I
FOR THE 2025 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION IN EAST HAWAI`I.
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to help
youth to make safe and responsible decisions to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, violence, and
other risky situations that could impact their health and safety; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is conducting an East Hawaii D.A.R.E. Day Celebration
to commemorate the graduation of students from various schools in East Hawaii who have
completed the 10-week Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) curriculum; and
WHEREAS, the East Hawaii D.A.R.E. Day Celebration will be held at the Charles
"Sparky" Kawamoto Swim Stadium on May 20, 2025; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii has requested funds for food and refreshments, inflatable
waterslides, and items for activities, games, and contests for the 2025 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration
in East Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support
organizations, such as D.A.R.E. Hawaii, that promote alcohol -free and drug -free programs and
events that teach youth to make safe and responsible choices; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for the 2025 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration in
East Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
