RESOLUTION NO. IG7 25
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KONA HISTORICAL
SOCIETY FOR ITS KONA BEEKEEPER LEGACY PROJECT.
WHEREAS, Kona Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to
collecting, preserving, researching, interpreting, and disseminating the history of Kona to
educate, enrich, and inspire the community and visitors; and
WHEREAS, Kona Historical Society is working with an exhibit curator to create a
museum exhibit that captures the history and honors the legacy of beekeeping in Kona for both
island residents and visitors alike to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, the multimedia exhibit, "From Humble Hives to Global Impact: The Story
of Kona's Beekeeping," will feature a documentary film, photographs, and artifacts, which will
be showcased at the H.N. Greenwell Store Museum from April to July 2025; and
WHEREAS, Kona Historical Society is requesting funds to assist with exhibit curator
fees and graphic designer fees for its Kona Beekeeper Legacy Project; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development collaborates with
community -based organizations to balance economic, social, community, health, and
environmental priorities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to Kona Historical Society for its Kona Beekeeper
Legacy Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
